Ed Martinez

A Career Built From The Ground Up

Ed began his career in the HVAC industry in 2003 after taking the ABC Apprenticeship entrance exam in San Diego and joining Southcoast Heating & Air Conditioning. There, he entered a four-year apprenticeship program and quickly demonstrated strong leadership and technical ability. By his second year as an apprentice, Ed was already running his own projects in the field. He successfully completed the program and graduated in 2007.

In 2009, Ed joined Brian Cox Mechanical as a Journeyman with the Retrofit Department. Over the years, he steadily advanced within the company, taking on increasing levels of responsibility and leadership. His career progression at Brian Cox Mechanical includes roles as Journeyman, Foreman, Project Coordinator, Retrofit Superintendent, and Retrofit Project Manager.

In 2026, Ed stepped into the role of Retrofit/Industrial Manager, taking over Rob’s position and overseeing both the San Diego and Ontario Retrofit teams, as well as the Industrial team. In this role, Ed is responsible for managing operations, supporting project execution, and continuing to drive the company’s commitment to quality, teamwork, and customer service.
